LBJ Park: A Court That Helped Build Pro Jump Jones

When I first started taking recording seriously, LBJ Park became my second home. This was right after COVID, and I needed a place where I could practice my craft, learn my camera, and figure out the vision I had for Pro Jump Jones. Day after day, I showed up at this court, recording games and learning something new every time.

Over the years, I’ve covered countless runs and hosted several community events here. For many hoopers in San Antonio, LBJ isn’t just another basketball court it’s a place they’ve been coming to for years. Every generation seems to have a story from this park.

I remember when the court was still green and there were two full courts. The park has changed a lot since then. A few years ago, the Spurs upgraded the facility, and it still looks great today. It’s been awesome watching the court evolve while the basketball culture has stayed strong.

I’ve witnessed incredible performances here. Tough buckets. Competitive battles. Highlight plays that people still talk about. I’ve also seen the other side of the game. There have been fights, and sadly, lives have been lost over situations that never should have happened. That’s part of the history too, and it’s a reminder that basketball should always bring people together not tear communities apart.

If this court could talk, it could tell stories worthy of a movie. The friendships, rivalries, championships, trash talk, unforgettable games, and life lessons have all happened on this blacktop.

Some talented players have pulled up to LBJ over the years, including Hesi God, J Lew, Cam Wilder, and many more. Every visit adds another chapter to the story of this court.

For me, LBJ will always be more than a place to record basketball. It’s where Pro Jump Jones truly began to take shape. It helped me develop my skills behind the camera, connect with the basketball community, and build the foundation for everything we’re creating today.

This is just the beginning of documenting the history of San Antonio basketball one court, one player, and one story at a time.
