We Took It Back to Where It All Started: Pro Jump Jones Returns to LBJ

August 8, 2026 | Lady Bird Johnson Park | San Antonio, Texas
Before Pro Jump Jones became a growing basketball community with years of games, highlights, interviews, and San Antonio hoopers documented, there was LBJ.
This is one of the courts where I first started taking basketball recording seriously. After COVID, I came here almost every day to practice, learn, and build the foundation for what Pro Jump Jones has become.
On August 8, 2026, we brought the community back to LBJ and the court reminded us why it will always be part of our story.
LBJ: Where the Foundation Was Built
LBJ has been part of San Antonio basketball for years. I started recording here when the court was still green and there were two full courts. At that time, I was developing my style, learning how to capture the game, and slowly building the basketball archive that Pro Jump Jones has today.
A lot has happened on this court. There have been tough games, unforgettable buckets, heated moments, and stories that go much deeper than basketball. If this court could speak, it could probably give us enough stories to make a movie.
The Spurs eventually helped upgrade the court, but the competition and reputation never left. Hoopers like Hesi God, J Lew, Cam Wilder, and many others have touched this court over the years.
For Pro Jump Jones, LBJ is more than another location. It is home court.
What Happened at LBJ
The sun was pouring gold across the court when everyone started pulling up. We had music playing, ice-cold water ready, and the cameras rolling.
Longtime Pro Jump Jones community members came out, but several hoopers were running with us for the first time. Some were new to the city. Others had seen the content online and finally had an opportunity to pull up and check it out for themselves.
We captured the run three different ways: short-form vertical content, an Instagram Live, and full games recorded in landscape for YouTube. We also took pictures, interviewed players, passed out shirts, and connected hoopers to the Pro Jump Jones website.
The games were competitive, the energy stayed high, and the court was filled with players from different parts of the San Antonio basketball community. When the sun dropped and the lights came on, LBJ came alive
The Hoopers Who Keep Pulling Up
Every run has hoopers who take the time to pull up no matter which court we choose.
Jay T from Atlanta is one of those people. From one side of the city to the other, he continues to show up, compete, and support what we’re doing. That type of consistency doesn’t go unnoticed.
We spent a little time chopping it up with him at LBJ, He is cool as a fan a down to earth type guy. We captured a few of his highlights and gave him a shirt. I enjoy watching him play. Pro Jump Jones more than just basketball, we are a community.

LBJ in Their Own Words
The people who regularly hoop at a court can explain it better than anyone watching from the outside.
Three LBJ hoopers introduced themselves, shared when players can usually find games at the park, and described the culture they try to maintain. Their message was simple: nobody is above anybody at LBJ. Everyone comes to hoop, and once the game starts, everyone is equal.

A Familiar Face at LBJ: School
Around the court, we call him School. People have seen him appear in Pro Jump Jones videos for years, but we had never stopped to talk with him on camera.
At LBJ, we finally asked where he was from, heard a little of his story, and thanked him for pulling up. The familiar faces help tell the history of a court just as much as the highlights.
Next Stop: Miller's Pond
Some of the Miller’s Pond hoopers made their way to LBJ and gave us an early look at where Pro Jump Jones is headed next.
They introduced their team, talked about a disagreement that happened during the games, and hinted at a special guest expected at Miller’s Pond next week. Every court has its own players, personality, and stories. Next week, we get to hear theirs.

The Story Continues
This wasn’t just another basketball run. It was Pro Jump Jones returning to one of the courts that helped build the foundation.
We documented the games, captured the people, and added another chapter to the history of San Antonio basketball.
If you hoop in San Antonio, don’t wait until the footage drops to ask where we were. Join the Pro Jump Jones community, stay connected, and find out where the community is pulling up next.
Your court, Your game,. Your story could be next.
